The Drone Accelerator have come rumbling down out of the high Andes of Peru with this self-titled debut! Featuring past and current members of both Montibus Communitas and the legendary high-freak collective Gong, this underground supergroup emerged as the result of twin pilgrimages to Machu Picchu. After the Peruvian members of the group were introduced to nomadic British saxophonist Michael Brown by a mutual acquaintance, a series of marathon jam sessions ensued in the crumbling old hotel the musicians were staying at. Born of beautiful coincidence and thin mountain air, their debut release is an anarchic blend of space rock, jazz, and krautrock that could only have come from one place at one very specific moment in time.

I am absolutely enamored with the recent explosion of modern experimental/free jazz and this album is no exception to this wonderful growth in sophisticated exploration into different sonic possibilities! If you can, get this one on cassette especially... it sounds fantastic that way! Jake Williams
